• Working class communities are organizing to make polluters pay!

  • It's simple. You make a mess. You clean it up.

  • Polluters made the mess. Now they need to clean it up.

  • When working people organize, we win for Washington families.

  • Wildfires endanger Washington workers. Make polluters pay!

Washington workers and families know the impacts of the climate crisis all too well: out-of-control wildfires, devastating floods, unrelenting heatwaves. It’s more dangerous to work. Homes and apartments are flooded. Roads are washed out. Our forests burn every summer. It’s not some distant future. It’s happening here and now.

Still action is too slow, and Big Oil corporations making the mess are writing the rules in Olympia. No one knows the needed solutions better than the workers and families most impacted by the climate crisis.

What’s at stake?

Who pays?

The climate crisis is hitting your wallet.

Every year we have to pay more to cover the costs of floods, wildfires, and heatwaves. Record highs in summer mean higher electricity bills. Food prices go up because of unpredictable and extreme weather. Because climate disasters keep getting more frequent and costly, insurance companies continue to raise premiums for renters and homeowners. Washington workers and families are paying more while the biggest polluters rake in record profits year after year.

You work hard for your money, and you should keep it.

The Big Oil and gas companies who made the mess should pay their fair share to clean it up.

Billionaire oil and gas companies are the reason why we’re seeing more floods, more fires, and more harm to workers and families. Companies like ExxonMobil and Chevron have known about the dangers of climate change for decades, yet they lied and kept lying. Decades of denial have made them rich. In 2024, Big Oil earned a profit of more than $102 billion– the hottest year in recorded history. While they rake in record profits, we pay with our lives and livelihood.

It’s time to Make Polluters Pay so we can make our state healthy, affordable, and livable.

Who should pay?

It’s simple.

You make a mess,

You clean it up.

We are building a working class and frontline statewide movement to Make Polluters Pay for the damage they continue to inflict upon our climate and our communities.

How do we make polluters pay?

By passing a law that requires the largest fossil fuel companies pay their fair share for the climate damages they’ve caused across our state.

Washington can use that money to:

  • Rebuild roads, bridges, and critical infrastructure to protect us from extreme weather

  • Strengthen riverbanks and make it harder for floods to hit our homes and apartments

  • Make sure we have funding for wildfire prevention and for firefighters

  • Support frontline communities hit hardest by climate impacts

  • And much more!

We’ve all felt the impacts of climate disasters. Workers and families most impacted by the climate crisis know what we need to keep our communities safe. We need our politicians to make Big Oil pay for the harm they’re causing and we need our communities to lead the solutions. Money returning to Washington put to use across Washington.

It is only fair that oil and gas companies are held to the same standard as the rest of us: you make a mess, you clean it up.

Step 1: Estimate Costs

Figure out how much extreme weather disasters and other climate harms are costing the state now and into the future.

Step 2: Identify what polluters owe

Identify polluters and how much each owes Washington.

Step 3: Send Big Oil the Bill

We will send the worst polluters the bill for their fair share of damages to Washington.

Step 4: Create the Polluters Pay Fund

The money from polluters will be used to make Washington healthy, affordable, and livable.
